መዝሙር ፸፯

1. Verse 1.፩

   ዘበኣእምሮ ፡ ዘአሳፍ ። አፅምኡ ፡ ሕዝብየ ፡ ሕግየ ፤ ወጽልዉ ፡ እዝነክሙ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ቃለ ፡ አፉየ ።

   Of understanding, of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ear to the words of my mouth.

2. Verse 2.፪

   እከሥት ፡ በምሳሌ ፡ አፉየ ፤ ወእነግር ፡ አምሳለ ፡ ዘእምትካት ።

   I will open my mouth in a parable; and I will declare riddles from of old.

3. Verse 3.፫

   ኵሎ ፡ ዘሰማዕነ ፡ ወዘርኢነ ፤ ወዘነገሩነ ፡ አበዊነ ።

   All that we have heard and that we have seen, and that our fathers have told us.

4. Verse 4.፬

   ወኢኀብኡ ፡ እምደቂቆሙ ፡ ለካልእ ፡ ትውልድ ፡ ወነገሩ ፡ ስብሐቲሁ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፤ ኀይሎሂ ፡ ወመንክሮሂ ፡ ዘገብረ ።

   They did not hide them from their children, but to another generation they declared the praises of Yahweh; his might also and the marvels that he wrought.

5. Verse 5.፭

   ዘአቀመ ፡ ስምዐ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ወሠርዐ ፡ ሕገ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፤ ዘአዘዞሙ ፡ ለአበዊነ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይንግሩ ፡ ለደቂቆሙ ።

   Who raised up a testimony in Jacob, and set a law in Israel; which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children.

6. Verse 6.፮

   ከመ ፡ ያእምር ፡ ካልእ ፡ ትውልድ ፤ ደቂቅ ፡ እለ ፡ ይትወለዱ ፡ ወይትነሥኡ ፡ ወይዜንዉ ፡ ለደቂቆሙ ።

   That another generation might know; the children who are to be born and to arise, and they shall recount them to their children.

7. Verse 7.፯

   ከመ ፡ ይረስዩ ፡ ትውክልቶሙ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፤ ወከመ ፡ ኢይርስዑ ፡ ግብረ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይኅሥሡ ፡ ትእዛዞ ።

   That they might set their trust upon Yahweh; and that they might not forget the works of Yahweh, but seek out his commandments.

8. Verse 8.፰

   ከመ ፡ ኢይኩኑ ፡ ከመ ፡ አበዊሆሙ ፤ ትውልድ ፡ ዕሉት ፡ ወመራር ። ትውልድ ፡ እንተ ፡ ኢያርትዐት ፡ ልባ ፤ ወኢተአምነት ፡ መንፈሳ ፡ በእግዚአብሔር ።

   That they might not be like their fathers; a generation rebellious and bitter. A generation whose heart was not steadfast, and whose spirit was not faithful toward Yahweh.

9. Verse 9.፱

   ደቂቀ ፡ ኤፍሬም ፡ ይወስቁ ፡ ወይነድፉ ፤ ወተገፍትኡ ፡ አመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ቀትል ።

   The children of Ephraim, bending and shooting the bow, were driven back in the day of battle.

10. Verse 10.፲

    እስመ ፡ ኢዐቀቡ ፡ ኪዳኖ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፤ ወአበዩ ፡ ሐዊረ ፡ በሕጉ ።

    For they did not keep the covenant of Yahweh; and they refused to walk in his law.

11. Verse 11.፲፩

    ወረስዑ ፡ ረድኤቶ ። ወመንክሮሂ ፡ ዘአርአዮሙ ።

    And they forgot his benefits, and the marvels that he showed them.

12. Verse 12.፲፪

    ዘገብረ ፡ መንክረ ፡ በቅድመ ፡ አባዊሆሙ ፤ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወበሐቀለ ፡ ጣኔዎስ ።

    Who wrought marvels before their fathers, in the land of Egypt and in the field of Tanis.

13. Verse 13.፲፫

    ሰጠቀ ፡ ባሕረ ፡ ወአኅለፎሙ ፤ ወአቀመ ፡ ማየ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዝቅ ።

    He cleft the sea and brought them through; and he made the waters stand like a heap.

14. Verse 14.፲፬

    ወመርሖሙ ፡ መዐልተ ፡ በደመና ፤ ወኵሎ ፡ ሌሊተ ፡ በብርሃነ ፡ እሳት ።

    And he led them by day with a cloud, and all the night with the light of fire.

15. Verse 15.፲፭

    ወአንቅዐ ፡ ኰኵሐ ፡ በበድው ፤ ወአስተዮሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዘእምቀላይ ፡ ብዙኅ ።

    And he opened the rock in the wilderness, and gave them drink as from a great deep.

16. Verse 16.፲፮

    ወአውፅአ ፡ ማየ ፡ እምእብን ፤ ወአውሐዘ ፡ ማየ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዘአፍላግ ።

    And he brought forth water out of the stone, and made the water flow down like rivers.

17. Verse 17.፲፯

    ወደገሙ ፡ ዓዲ ፡ ወአበሱ ፡ ሎቱ ፤ ወአምረርዎ ፡ ለልዑል ፡ በበድው ።

    Yet they sinned again the more against him, and they provoked the Most High in the desert.

18. Verse 18.፲፰

    ወአመከርዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ በልቦሙ ፤ ከመ ፡ ይስአሉ ፡ መብልዐ ፡ ለነፍሶሙ ።

    And they tempted Yahweh in their heart, by asking food for their soul.

19. Verse 19.፲፱

    ሐመይዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይቤሉ ፤ ይክልኑ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሠሪዐ ፡ ማእድ ፡ በገዳም ።

    They spoke against Yahweh, and said, Is Yahweh able to set a table in the wilderness?

20. Verse 20.፳

    ይዝብጥ ፡ ኰኵሐ ፡ ወያውሕዝ ፡ ማየ ፤ ወይክልኑ ፡ ውሂበ ፡ ኅብስት ፡ ወይሥራዕ ፡ ማዕደ ፡ ለሕዝቡ ።

    He struck the rock and the water flowed, and the streams overflowed; can he also give bread, and set out a table for his people?

21. Verse 21.፳፩

    ወሰምዐ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወአናሕሰየ ፤ ወነደ ፡ እሳት ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወመጽአ ፡ መቅሠፍት ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ።

    And Yahweh heard this and was angered; and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and wrath came up against Israel.

22. Verse 22.፳፪

    እስመ ፡ ኢተአመንዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፤ ወኢተወከሉ ፡ በአድኅኖቱ ።

    Because they did not believe in Yahweh, and did not trust in his salvation.

23. Verse 23.፳፫

    ወአዘዘ ፡ ደመና ፡ በላዕሉ ፤ ወአርኀወ ፡ ኆኃተ ፡ ሰማይ ።

    Yet he commanded the clouds above; and he opened the doors of heaven.

24. Verse 24.፳፬

    ወአዝነመ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ መና ፡ ይብልዑ ፤ ወወሀቦሙ ፡ ኅብስተ ፡ ሰማይ ።

    And he rained down manna for them to eat; and he gave them the bread of heaven.

25. Verse 25.፳፭

    ወኅብስተ ፡ መላእክቲሁ ፡ በልዑ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፤ ወፈነወ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ሥንቆሙ ፡ ዘየአክሎሙ ።

    And the sons of men ate the bread of his angels; and he sent them their provision in abundance.

26. Verse 26.፳፮

    ወአንሥአ ፡ አዜበ ፡ እምሰማይ ፤ ወአምጽአ ፡ መስዐ ፡ በኀይሉ ።

    And he stirred up the south wind from heaven; and by his power he brought in the southwest wind.

27. Verse 27.፳፯

    ወአዝነመ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ ከመ ፡ መሬት ፤ ወከመ ፡ ኆጻ ፡ ባሕር ፡ አዕዋፈ ፡ ዘይሠርር ።

    And he rained down flesh upon them like dust; and like the sand of the sea, winged birds that fly.

28. Verse 28.፳፰

    ወወድቀ ፡ ማእከለ ፡ ተዓይኒሆሙ ፤ ወዐውደ ፡ ደባትሪሆሙ ።

    And they fell in the midst of their camp; and round about their tents.

29. Verse 29.፳፱

    በልዑ ፡ ወጸግቡ ፡ ጥቀ ፤ ወወሀቦሙ ፡ ለፍትወቶሙ ።

    And they ate and were exceedingly filled; and he gave them their desire.

30. Verse 30.፴

    ወኢያኅጥኦሙ ፡ እምዘ ፡ ፈቀዱ ። ወእንዘ ፡ ዓዲ ፡ መብልዖሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አፉሆሙ ፤

    And he did not deprive them of what they craved. But while their food was yet in their mouth,

31. Verse 31.፴፩

    ወመጽአ ፡ መቅሠፍተ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ወቀተሎሙ ፡ መብዝኅቶሙ ፤ ወአዕቀጾሙ ፡ ለኅሩያነ ፡ እስራኤል ።

    The wrath of Yahweh came up against them, and slew the most of them; and he laid low the chosen ones of Israel.

32. Verse 32.፴፪

    ወምስለ ፡ ዝኒ ፡ ዓዲ ፡ አበሱ ፡ ሎቱ ፤ ወኢተአመንዎ ፡ በተአምሪሁ ።

    And with all this they sinned yet more against him; and they did not believe in his wonders.

33. Verse 33.፴፫

    ወኀልቀ ፡ በከንቱ ፡ መዋዕሊሆሙ ፤ ወኀለፈ ፡ በጕጕኣ ፡ ዐመቲሆሙ ።

    And their days were consumed in vanity; and their years passed away in haste.

34. Verse 34.፴፬

    ወአመ ፡ ይቀትሎሙ ፡ ውእተ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ይኀሥዎ ፤ ወይትመየጡ ፡ ወይገይሱ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።

    And when he slew them, in that hour they sought him out; and they turned back and returned earnestly to Yahweh.

35. Verse 35.፴፭

    ወተዘከሩ ፡ ከመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ረዳኢሆሙ ፤ ወእግዚአብሔር ፡ ልዑል ፡ መድኀኒሆሙ ።

    And they remembered that Yahweh was their helper; and Yahweh the Most High their redeemer.

36. Verse 36.፴፮

    ወአፍቀረዎ ፡ በአፉሆሙ ፤ ወሐሰውዎ ፡ በልሳኖሙ ።

    And they loved him with their mouth; and they lied to him with their tongue.

37. Verse 37.፴፯

    ወኢኮነ ፡ ርቱዐ ፡ ልቦሙ ፡ በላዕሌሆሙ ፤ ወኢተአመንዎ ፡ በኪዳኑ ።

    And their heart was not steadfast within them; and they were not faithful to his covenant.

38. Verse 38.፴፰

    ወውእቱሰ ፡ መሓሪ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወይሰሪ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ኃጢአቶሙ ፡ ወኢያጠፍኦሙ ። ወያበዝኅ ፡ መዪጠ ፡ መዐቱ ፡ ወኢያነድድ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ መቅሠፍቱ ።

    But he is merciful, and he forgave them all their sin and did not destroy them. And he multiplied the turning back of his wrath, and did not kindle all his fury.

39. Verse 39.፴፱

    ወተዘከረ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሥጋ ፡ እሙንቱ ፤ መንፈስ ፡ እምከመ ፡ ወፅአ ፡ ኢይገብእ ።

    And he remembered that they were flesh; a breath that, once it has gone forth, does not return.

40. Verse 40.፵

    ሚመጠነ ፡ አምዕዕዎ ፡ በገዳም ፡ ወወሐክዎ ፡ በበድው ።

    How often they provoked him in the wilderness, and grieved him in the desert.

41. Verse 41.፵፩

    ወተመይጡ ፡ ወአመከርዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፤ ወወሐክዎ ፡ ለቅዱሰ ፡ እስራኤል ።

    And they turned back and tempted Yahweh; and they grieved the Holy One of Israel.

42. Verse 42.፵፪

    ወኢተዘከሩ ፡ እዴሁ ፤ ዘአድኀኖሙ ፡ እምእደ ፡ ፀሮሙ ።

    And they did not remember his hand, which redeemed them from the hand of their foe.

43. Verse 43.፵፫

    ዘገብረ ፡ ተአምረ ፡ በግብጽ ፤ ወመንክረ ፡ በሐቅለ ፡ ጣኔዎስ ።

    Who wrought his signs in Egypt; and his marvels in the field of Tanis.

44. Verse 44.፵፬

    ወረሰየ ፡ ደመ ፡ ለአፍላጊሆሙ ፤ ወለአንቅዕቲሆሙኒ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይስተዩ ።

    And he turned their rivers into blood; and their springs, that they might not drink.

45. Verse 45.፵፭

    ፈነወ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ አኮተ ፡ ወበልዖሙ ፤ ወቈርነነዓተ ፡ ወአርኰሶሙ ።

    He sent against them the dog-fly, and it devoured them; and the frog, and it defiled them.

46. Verse 46.፵፮

    ወወሀበ ፡ ለአናኵዕ ፡ ፍሬሆሙ ፤ ወተግባሮሙኒ ፡ ለአንበጣ ።

    And he gave their fruit to the caterpillar; and their labor to the locust.

47. Verse 47.፵፯

    ወቀተለ ፡ ወይኖሙ ፡ በበረድ ፤ ወበለሶሙኒ ፡ በአስሐትያ ።

    And he killed their vines with hail; and their sycamores with frost.

48. Verse 48.፵፰

    ወወሀበ ፡ ለበረድ ፡ እንስሳሆሙ ፤ ወንዋዮሙኒ ፡ ለእሳት ።

    And he gave over their cattle to the hail; and their possessions to the fire.

49. Verse 49.፵፱

    ፈነወ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ መቅሠፍተ ፡ መዐቱ ፤ መቅሠፍተ ፡ ወመንሱተ ፡ ወሕማመ ፤ ወፈነወ ፡ ምስለ ፡ መላእክት ፡ እኩያን ።

    He sent against them the scourge of his wrath; scourge and plague and sickness; and he sent with them evil angels.

50. Verse 50.፶

    ወጼሐ ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ ለመዐቱ ፤ ወኢመሐካ ፡ እሞት ፡ ለነፍሶሙ ፤ ወዐጸወ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሞት ፡ እንስሳሆሙ ።

    And he made a path for his wrath; and he did not spare their soul from death; and he shut up their cattle in death.

51. Verse 51.፶፩

    ወቀተለ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ በኵሮሙ ፡ በምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፤ ወቀዳሜ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ጻማሆሙ ፡ በውስተ ፡ አብያቲሆሙ ።

    And he slew every firstborn in the land of Egypt; the firstfruits of all their labor in their tents.

52. Verse 52.፶፪

    ወአውፈሮሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ አባግዕ ፡ ለሕዝቡ ፤ ወአውፅኦሙ ፡ ገዳመ ፡ ከመ ፡ መርዔት ።

    And he led forth his people like sheep; and he brought them out into the wilderness like a flock.

53. Verse 53.፶፫

    ወመርሖሙ ፡ በተስፋሁ ፡ ወኢፈርሁ ፤ ወደፈኖሙ ፡ ባሕር ፡ ለፀሮሙ ።

    And he led them in hope, and they did not fear; and the sea covered over their foes.

54. Verse 54.፶፬

    ወወሰዶሙ ፡ ደብረ ፡ መቅደሱ ፤ ደብረ ፡ ዘፈጠረት ፡ የማኑ ።

    And he brought them to the mountain of his sanctuary; the mountain which his right hand had created.

55. Verse 55.፶፭

    ወሰደደ ፡ አሕዛበ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጾሙ ፡ ወአውረሶሙ ፡ በሐብለ ፡ ርስቱ ፤ ወአንበረ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አብያቲሆሙ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ እስራኤል ።

    And he drove out the nations from before their face, and gave them an inheritance by the measuring line of his portion; and he settled the people of Israel in their tents.

56. Verse 56.፶፮

    ወአመከርዎ ፡ ወአምዕዕዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ልዑል ፤ ወኢዐቀቡ ፡ ስምዖ ።

    Yet they tempted and provoked Yahweh the Most High; and they did not keep his testimony.

57. Verse 57.፶፯

    ወተመይጡ ፡ ወዐለዉ ፡ ከመ ፡ አበዊሆሙ ፤ ወኮኑ ፡ ከመ ፡ ቀስት ፡ ጠዋይ ።

    And they turned back and dealt treacherously like their fathers; and they became like a deceitful bow.

58. Verse 58.፶፰

    ወአምዕዕዎ ፡ በአውገሪሆሙ ፤ ወኣቅንእዎ ፡ በግልፎሆሙ ።

    And they provoked him with their high places; and they moved him to jealousy with their carved images.

59. Verse 59.፶፱

    ወሰምዐ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወአናሕሰየ ፤ ወመነኖሙ ፡ ለእስራኤል ፡ ፈድፋደ ።

    And Yahweh heard and was angered; and he utterly rejected Israel.

60. Verse 60.፷

    ወኀደጋ ፡ ለደብተራ ፡ ሴሎም ፤ ደብተራሁ ፡ እንተ ፡ ባቲ ፡ ኀደረ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ሰብእ ።

    And he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh; his tent in which he had dwelt among men.

61. Verse 61.፷፩

    ወወሀበ ፡ ኀይሎሙ ፡ ለተፄውዎ ፤ ወሥኖሙኒ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደ ፡ ፀሮሙ ።

    And he gave their strength into captivity; and their beauty into the hand of their foe.

62. Verse 62.፷፪

    ወዐጸዎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ኲናት ፡ ለሕዝቡ ፤ ወተሀየዮሙ ፡ ለርስቱ ።

    And he gave over his people to the sword; and he despised his inheritance.

63. Verse 63.፷፫

    ወበልዐቶሙ ፡ እሳት ፡ ለወራዙቶሙ ፤ ወኢላሐዋ ፡ ደናግሊሆሙ ።

    And the fire devoured their young men; and their maidens were not lamented.

64. Verse 64.፷፬

    ወካህናቲሆሙኒ ፡ ወድቁ ፡ በኲናት ፤ ወኢበከያ ፡ አቤራቲሆሙ ።

    And their priests fell by the sword; and their widows did not weep.

65. Verse 65.፷፭

    ወተንሥአ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ከመ ፡ ዘንቃህ ፡ እምንዋም ፤ ወከመ ፡ ኀያል ፡ ወኅዳገ ፡ ወይን ።

    And Yahweh awoke as one who awakes out of sleep; and like a mighty man overcome by wine.

66. Verse 66.፷፮

    ወቀተለ ፡ ፀሮሙ ፡ በዳኅሬሆሙ ፤ ወወሀቦሙ ፡ ኀሳረ ፡ ዘለዓለም ።

    And he smote his foes in their hinder parts; and he gave them everlasting reproach.

67. Verse 67.፷፯

    ወኀደጋ ፡ ለደብተራ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፤ ወኢኀረዮሙ ፡ ለሕዝበ ፡ ኤፍሬም ።

    And he forsook the tabernacle of Joseph; and he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim.

68. Verse 68.፷፰

    ወኀረየ ፡ ለሕዝበ ፡ ይሁዳ ፤ ደብረ ፡ ጽዮን ፡ ዘአፍቀረ ።

    But he chose the tribe of Judah; Mount Zion, which he loved.

69. Verse 69.፷፱

    ሐነጸ ፡ መቅደሶ ፡ በአርያም ፤ ወሳረራ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ለዓለም ።

    He built his sanctuary in the heights; and he founded it upon the earth forever.

70. Verse 70.፸

    ወኀረዮ ፡ ለዳዊት ፡ ገብሩ ፤ ወነሥኦ ፡ እመርዔተ ፡ አባግዒሁ ። ወተመጠዎ ፡ እምድኅረ ፡ ሐራሣት ፤

    And he chose David his servant; and took him from the flocks of his sheep. And he received him from following the ewes;

71. Verse 71.፸፩

    ከመ ፡ ይርዐዮ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ገብሩ ፤ ወለእስራኤል ፡ ርስቱ ።

    That he might shepherd Jacob his servant; and Israel his inheritance.

72. Verse 72.፸፪

    ወርዕዮሙ ፡ በየዋሃተ ፡ ልቡ ፤ ወመርሖሙ ፡ በጥበበ ፡ እደዊሁ ።

    And he shepherded them in the uprightness of his heart; and he led them by the skill of his hands.
