The Psalms 68 · Geʽez & English
- Verse 1.
ፍጻሜ ፡ በእንተ ፡ እለ ፡ ተበዐዱ ፡ ዘዳዊት ።
To the end. Concerning those who shall be changed. Of David.
- Verse 2.
አድኅነኒ ፡ እግዚኦ ፤ እስመ ፡ በጽሐኒ ፡ ማይ ፡ እስከ ፡ ነፍስየ ።
Save me, O Yahweh, for the waters have come up to my soul.
- Verse 2.
ወጠጋዕኩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዕሙቅ ፡ ቀላይ ፡ ወኀይል ፡ አልብየ ፤ sበጻሕኩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ማዕምቀ ፡ ባሕር ፡ ወዐውሎ ፡ አስጠመኒ ።
I have sunk into the deep of the abyss, and there is no strength in me; I have come into the depths of the sea, and the tempest has drowned me.
- Verse 4.
ሰራሕኩ ፡ በከልሖ ፡ ወስሕከኒ ፡ ጕርዔየ ፤ ደክማ ፡ አዕይንትየ ፡ እንዘ ፡ እሴፈዎ ፡ ለአምላኪየ ።
I have grown weary with crying out, and my throat has become hoarse; my eyes have failed while I wait for my God.
- Verse 5.
በዝኁ ፡ እምስዕርተ ፡ ርእስየ ፡ እለ ፡ ይጸልኡኒ ፡ በከንቱ ፤ ጸንዑ ፡ ፀርየ ፡ እለ ፡ ይረውዱኒ ፡ በዐመፃ ፡ ወዘኢነሣእኩ ፡ ይትፈደዩኒ ።
They who hate me without cause have become more than the hairs of my head; my enemies who persecute me wrongfully have grown strong, and they require of me what I did not take.
- Verse 6.
ለሊከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ታአምር ፡ እበድየ ፤ ወኢይትኀባእ ፡ እምኔከ ፡ ኃጢአትየ ።
You yourself, O Yahweh, know my folly, and my sin is not hidden from you.
- Verse 7.
ወኢይትኀፈሩ ፡ ብየ ፡ እለ ፡ የኀሡከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እግዚአ ፡ ኀያላን ፤ ወኢይኀሰሩ ፡ ብየ ፡ እለ ፡ ይሴፈዉከ ፤ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ።
Let not those who seek you be put to shame because of me, O Yahweh, Lord of hosts; and let not those who hope in you be confounded because of me, O God of Israel.
- Verse 8.
እስመ ፡ በእንቲአከ ፡ ተዐገሥኩ ፡ ፅእለተ ፤ ወከደነኒ ፡ ኀፍረት ፡ ገጽየ ።
For because of you I have endured reproach, and shame has covered my face.
- Verse 9.
ከመ ፡ ነኪር ፡ ኮንክዎሙ ፡ ለአኀውየ ፤ ወነግድ ፡ ለደቂቀ ፡ አቡየ ፡ ወእምየ ።
I have become a stranger to my brothers, and a sojourner to the children of my mother.
- Verse 10.
እስመ ፡ ቅንአተ ፡ ኬትከ ፡ በልዐኒ ፤ ተዕይርቶሙ ፡ ለእለ ፡ ይትዔየሩከ ፡ ወድቀ ፡ ላዕሌየ ።
For the zeal of your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen upon me.
- Verse 11.
ወቀጻእክዋ ፡ በጾም ፡ ለነፍስየ ። ወኮነኒ ፡ ፅእለተ ።
And I subdued my soul with fasting, and it became a reproach to me.
- Verse 12.
ወለበስኩ ፡ ሠቀ ፡ ወኮንክዎሙ ፡ ነገረ ።
And I clothed myself with sackcloth, and I became a byword to them.
- Verse 13.
ላዕሌየ ፡ ይዛውዑ ፡ እለ ፡ ይነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አናቅጽ ፤ ወኪያየ ፡ የኀልዩ ፡ እለ ፡ ይሰትዩ ፡ ወይነ ።
Those who sit in the gates murmur against me, and those who drink wine sing of me.
- Verse 14.
ወአንሰ ፡ በጸሎትየ ፡ ኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ሣህሉ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ በጊዜሁ ፤ እንዘ ፡ ብዙኅ ፡ ሣህልከ ፡ ስምዐኒ ፡ ዘበአማን ፡ መድኀንየ ።
But as for me, in my prayer to Yahweh — the mercy of Yahweh in his own time — in the abundance of your mercy, hear me, in the truth of your salvation.
- Verse 15.
ወአድኅነኒ ፡ እምዐምዓም ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢየኀጠኒ ፤ ወአንግፈኒ ፡ እምጸላእትየ ፡ ወእምቀላየ ፡ ማይ ። ወኢያስጥመኒ ፡ ዐውሎ ፡ ማይ ፡
And deliver me from the mire, that I may not sink; and rescue me from those who hate me, and from the depths of the waters. And let not the flood of waters drown me,
- Verse 16.
ወኢየኀጠኒ ፡ ቀላይ ፤ ወኢያብቁ ፡ አፉሁ ፡ ዐዘቅት ፡ ላዕሌየ ።
and let not the deep swallow me up; and let not the pit shut its mouth over me.
- Verse 17.
ስምዐኒ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ እስመ ፡ ሠናይ ፡ ምሕረትከ ፤ ወበከመ ፡ ብዝኀ ፡ ሣህልከ ፡ ነጽር ፡ ላዕሌየ ።
Hear me, O Yahweh, for your mercy is good; and according to the abundance of your compassion, look upon me.
- Verse 18.
ወኢትሚጥ ፡ ገጸከ ፡ እምገብርከ ፤ እስመ ፡ ተመንደብኩ ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ስምዐኒ ።
And do not turn your face away from your servant; for I am in distress, hear me quickly.
- Verse 19.
ነጽራ ፡ ለነፍስየ ፡ ወአድኅና ፤ ወአድኅነኒ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ጽእለትየ ።
Attend to my soul and deliver it; rescue me because of my reproach.
- Verse 20.
ለሊከ ፡ ታአምር ፡ ጸላእትየ ፤ ኀፍረትየ ፡ ወኀሳርየ ፤ በቅድመ ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ይሣቅዩኒ ።
You yourself know my enemies, my shame and my disgrace; in the presence of all those who afflict me.
- Verse 21.
ተዐገሠት ፡ ነፍስየ ፡ ጽእለተ ፡ ወኀሳረ ፤ ወነበርኩ ፡ ትኩዝየ ፡ ወኀጣእኩ ፡ ዘይናዝዘኒ ።
My soul has endured reproach and disgrace; and I sat down in my mourning, and I found no one to comfort me.
- Verse 22.
ወወደዩ ፡ ሐሞተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መብልዕየ ፤ ወአስተዩኒ ፡ ብሒአ ፡ ለጽምእየ ።
And they put gall into my food, and they gave me vinegar to drink for my thirst.
- Verse 23.
ለትኩኖሙ ፡ ማእዶሙ ፡ መሥገርተ ፡ በቅድሜሆሙ ፤ ወማዕገተ ፡ ዕቅፍት ፡ ለፍዳሆሙ ።
Let their table become a snare before them, and a stumbling-trap for their recompense.
- Verse 24.
ይጽለማ ፡ አዕይንቲሆሙ ፡ ወኢይርአያ ፤ ወይትቀጻዕ ፡ ዘባናቲሆሙ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ጊዜ ።
Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see; and bow down their backs at all times.
- Verse 25.
ከዐው ፡ መዐተከ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፤ ወይርከቦሙ ፡ መቅሠፍተ ፡ መዐትከ ።
Pour out your wrath upon them, and let the fury of your anger overtake them.
- Verse 26.
ለትኩን ፡ ሀገሮሙ ፡ በድወ ፤ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘይንበር ፡ ውስተ ፡ አብያቲሆሙ ።
Let their dwelling become desolate, and let there be no one to dwell in their houses.
- Verse 27.
እስመ ፡ ዘአንተ ፡ ቀሠፍከ ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ተለዉ ፤ ወወሰኩኒ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ጸልዕየ ፡ ቍስለ ።
For those whom you have struck, they have pursued; and they have added to the wound of my affliction.
- Verse 28.
ወስኮሙ ፡ ጌጋየ ፡ በዲበ ፡ ጌጋዮሙ ፤ ወኢይባኡ ፡ በጽድቅከ ።
Add iniquity upon their iniquity, and let them not enter into your righteousness.
- Verse 29.
ወይደምሰሱ ፡ እመጽሐፈ ፡ ሕያዋን ፤ ወኢይጸሐፉ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ጻድቃን ።
Let them be blotted out from the book of the living, and let them not be written with the righteous.
- Verse 30.
ነዳይ ፡ ወቍሱል ፡ አነ ፤ መድኀኔ ፡ ገጽየ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ተወክፈኒ ።
Poor and afflicted am I; the salvation of my face, O Yahweh, receive me.
- Verse 31.
እሴብሕ ፡ ለስመ ፡ አምላኪየ ፡ በማኅሌት ፤ ወኣዐብዮ ፡ በስብሓት ።
I will praise the name of my God with song, and I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
- Verse 32.
ወአሠምሮ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ እምላህም ፡ ጣዕዋ ፤ ዘአብቈለ ፡ ቀርነ ፡ ወጽፍረ ።
And it shall please Yahweh more than a young bullock that puts forth horns and hooves.
- Verse 33.
ይርአዩ ፡ ነዳያን ፡ ወይትፌሥሑ ፤ ኅሥዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወተሐዩ ፡ ነፍስክሙ ።
Let the poor see and rejoice; seek Yahweh, and your soul shall live.
- Verse 34.
እስመ ፡ ሰምዖሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለነዳያን ፤ ወኢመነኖሙ ፡ ለሙቁሓን ።
For Yahweh has heard the poor, and he has not despised those who are in chains.
- Verse 35.
ይሴብሕዎ ፡ ሰማያት ፡ ወምድር ፤ ወባሕርኒ ፡ ወኵሉ ፡ ዘይትሐወሥ ፡ ውስቴታ ።
Let the heavens and the earth praise him, and the sea, and everything that moves in it.
- Verse 36.
እስመ ፡ አድኀና ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለጽዮን ፡ ወይትሐነጻ ፡ አህጉረ ፡ ይሁዳ ፤ ወይነብሩ ፡ ህየ ፡ ወይወርስዋ ።
For Yahweh shall save Zion, and the cities of Judah shall be rebuilt; and they shall dwell there and inherit it.
- Verse 37.
ወዘርዐ ፡ አግብርቲከ ፡ ይነብርዋ ፤ ወእለ ፡ ያፍቅሩ ፡ ስመከ ፡ የኀድሩ ፡ ውስቴታ ።
And the offspring of your servants shall dwell in it, and those who love your name shall abide in it.
