ፍጻሜ ፡ መዝሙር ፡ ዘዳዊት ።
To the end. A psalm of David,
- Verse 2.
አመ ፡ መጽአ ፡ ኀቤሁ ፡ ናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፤ ዘአመ ፡ ቦአ ፡ ኀቤሃ ፡ ለአበሳቢ ።
when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to her, to [Bathsheba].
- Verse 3.
ተሣሀለኒ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ በከመ ፡ ዕበየ ፡ ሣህልከ ፤ ወበከመ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ መሕረትከ ፡ ደምስስ ፡ ኃጢአትየ ።
Have mercy on me, O Yahweh, according to the greatness of your mercy; and according to the abundance of your compassion, blot out my sin.
- Verse 4.
ኅፅበኒ ፡ ወአንጽሐኒ ፡ እምኀጢአትየ ፤ ወእምአበሳየኒ ፡ አንጽሐኒ ።
Wash me and cleanse me from my sin, and from my iniquity cleanse me.
- Verse 5.
እስመ ፡ ለልየ ፡ ኣአምር ፡ ጌጋይየ ፤ ወኀጢአትየኒ ፡ ቅድሜከ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ በኵሉ ፡ ጊዜ ።
For I myself know my transgression, and my sin is before me at all times.
- Verse 6.
ለከ ፡ ለባሕቲትከ ፡ አበስኩ ፡ ወእኩየኒ ፡ በቅድሜከ ፡ ገበርኩ ፤ ከመ ፡ ትጽደቅ ፡ በነቢብከ ፡ ወትማእ ፡ በኵነኔከ ።
Against you, you alone, have I sinned, and what is evil before you I have done; that you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you judge.
- Verse 7.
እስመ ፡ ናሁ ፡ በኀጢአት ፡ ተፀነስኩ ፤ ወበዐመፃ ፡ ወለደተኒ ፡ እምየ ።
For behold, in sin I was conceived, and in iniquity my mother bore me.
- Verse 8.
እስመ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ጽድቀ ፡ አፍቀርከ ፤ ዘኢይትነበብ ፡ ኅቡአ ፡ ጥበብከ ፡ አይዳዕከኒ ።
For behold, you have loved truth; the hidden and unspeakable things of your wisdom you have made known to me.
- Verse 9.
ትነዝኀኒ ፡ በአዛብ ፡ ወእነጽሕ ፤ ተኀፅበኒ ፡ እምበረድ ፡ እጸዐዱ ።
You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; you shall wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
- Verse 10.
ታሰምዐኒ ፡ ትፍሥሕተ ፡ ወሐሤተ ፤ ወይትፌሥሑ ፡ አዕጽምተ ፡ ጻድቃን ።
You shall make me hear joy and gladness; and the bones of the righteous shall rejoice.
- Verse 11.
ሚጥ ፡ ገጸከ ፡ እምኀጢአትየ ፤ ወደምስስ ፡ ሊተ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ አበሳየ ።
Turn your face from my sin, and blot out all my iniquities for me.
- Verse 12.
ልበ ፡ ንጹሐ ፡ ፍጥር ፡ ሊተ ፡ እግዚኦ ፤ ወመንፈሰ ፡ ርቱዐ ፡ ሐድስ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ከርሥየ ።
Create in me a clean heart, O Yahweh, and renew an upright spirit within my belly.
- Verse 13.
ኢትግድፈኒ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጽከ ፤ ወመንፈሰከ ፡ ቅዱሰ ፡ ኢታውፅእ ፡ እምላዕሌየ ።
Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me.
- Verse 14.
ዕስየኒ ፡ ፍሥሓ ፡ በአድኅኖትከ ፤ ወበመንፈስ ፡ ዐዚዝ ፡ አጽንዐኒ ።
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and strengthen me with a mighty spirit.
- Verse 15.
ከመ ፡ እምሀሮሙ ፡ ለኃጥኣን ፡ ፈኖተከ ፤ ወረሲዓን ፡ ይትመየጡ ፡ ኀቤከ ።
That I may teach the wicked your ways; and the ungodly shall turn back to you.
- Verse 16.
አድኅነኒ ፡ እምደም ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ መድኀኒትየ ፤ ይትፌሣሕ ፡ ልሳንየ ፡ በጽድቀ ፡ ዚአከ ።
Deliver me from bloodshed, O Yahweh, God of my salvation; my tongue shall rejoice in your righteousness.
- Verse 17.
እግዚኦ ፡ ትከሥት ፡ ከናፍርየ ፤ ወአፉየ ፡ ያየድዕ ፡ ስብሐቲከ ።
O Yahweh, you shall open my lips, and my mouth shall declare your praise.
- Verse 18.
ሶበሰ ፡ ፈቀድከ ፡ መሥዋዕተኒ ፡ እምወሀብኩ ፤ ወጽንሓሕኒ ፡ ኢትሠምር ።
For if you had desired sacrifice, I would have given it; but you do not delight in whole burnt offerings.
- Verse 19.
መሥዋዕቱ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ መንፈስ ፡ የዋህ ፤ ልበ ፡ ትሑተ ፡ ወየዋሀ ፡ ኢይሜንን ፡ እግዚአብሔር ።
The sacrifice for Yahweh is a humble spirit; a lowly and humble heart Yahweh will not despise.
- Verse 20.
አሠንያ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ በሥምረትከ ፡ ለጽዮን ፤ ወይትሐንጻ ፡ አረፋቲሃ ፡ ለኢየሩሳሌም ።
Do good, O Yahweh, in your good pleasure to Zion; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.
- Verse 21.
አመ ፡ ትሠምር ፡ መሥዋዕተ ፡ ጽድቅ ፡ መባአኒ ፡ ወቍርባነኒ ፤ አሜሃ ፡ ያዐርጉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምሥዋዒከ ፡ አልህምተ ።
Then you shall delight in the sacrifice of righteousness, in oblation and offering; then they shall offer up bulls upon your altar.
