- Verse 1.
ፍጻሜ ፡ ዘደቂቀ ፡ ቆሬ ፡ መዝሙር ፡ ዘዳዊት ።
To the end. Of the sons of Korah. A psalm of David.
- Verse 2.
ስምዑ ፡ ዝንተ ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ አሕዛብ ፤ ወአፅምኡ ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ትነብሩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዓለም ።
Hear this, all you peoples; and give ear, all you who dwell in the world,
- Verse 3.
በበ ፡ በሐውርቲክሙ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ፤ አብዕልትኒ ፡ ወነዳይኒ ።
each in your own lands, you sons of mortal men, both the rich and the poor.
- Verse 4.
አፉየ ፡ ይነግር ፡ ጥበበ ፤ ወሕሊና ፡ ልብየ ፡ ምክረ ።
My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart, understanding.
- Verse 5.
ኣፀምእ ፡ ምሳሌ ፡ በእዘንየ ፤ ወእከሥት ፡ በመዝሙር ፡ ነገርየ ።
I will incline my ear to a parable; I will open my saying with a psalm.
- Verse 6.
ለምንት ፡ እፈርህ ፡ እምዕለት ፡ እኪት ፤ ኃጢአተ ፡ ሰኰናየ ፡ ዐገተኒ ።
Why should I fear in the evil day? The iniquity of my heels has surrounded me.
- Verse 7.
እለ ፡ ይትአመኑ ፡ በኀይሎሙ ፤ ወይዜሀሩ ፡ በብዝኀ ፡ ብዕሎሙ ።
Those who trust in their own strength, and boast in the abundance of their wealth—
- Verse 8.
እኍኒ ፡ ኢያድኅን ፡ እኅዋሁ ፡ ወኢያድኅን ፡ ሰብእ ፤ ወኢይሁብ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ቤዛሁ ።
a brother does not save, he does not save a man, and he does not give to Yahweh his ransom,
- Verse 9.
ወኢተውላጠ ፡ ሤጠ ፡ ነፍሱ ፡ ዘጻመወ ፡ ለዓለም ፡
nor the price of the exchange of his soul, though he labored forever,
- Verse 10.
የሐዩ ፡ ለዝሉፉ ፤ እስመ ፡ ኢይሬኢ ፡ መስና ። ሶበ ፡ ትሬእዮሙ ፡ ለጠቢባን ፡ ይመውቱ ፡
that he should live perpetually; for he does not see destruction. When you see the wise, they die,
- Verse 11.
መከማሁ ፡ ይትሐጐሉ ፡ አብዳን ፡ እለ ፡ አልቦሙ ፡ ልበ ፤ ወየኀድጉ ፡ ለባዕድ ፡ ብዕሎሙ ።
likewise the foolish perish, those who have no heart, and they leave their wealth to strangers.
- Verse 12.
ወመቃብሪሆሙ ፡ አብያቲሆሙ ፡ ለዓለም ፡ ወማኅደሪሆሙ ፡ ለትውልደ ፡ ትውልድ ፤ ወይሰምዩ ፡ አስማቲሆሙ ፡ በበ ፡ በሐውርቲሆሙ ።
And their graves are their houses forever, and their dwellings from generation to generation; and they call their names by their own lands.
- Verse 13.
ወሰብእሰ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ክቡር ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኢያእመረ ፤ ወኮነ ፡ ከመ ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ዘአልቦ ፡ ልበ ፡ ወተመሰሎሙ ።
But man, while he was held in honor, did not understand; and he became like the beasts that have no heart, and was made like them.
- Verse 14.
ለሊሃ ፡ ፍኖቶሙ ፡ ዕቅፍቶሙ ፡ ወእንዘ ፡ ይሠምሩ ፡ በአፉሆሙ ።TABULAA
This very way of theirs is their stumbling, and yet they take pleasure with their mouths. [unintelligible source marker]
- Verse 15.
ከመ ፡ አባግዕ ፡ ሞት ፡ ይሬዕዮሙ ፡ በሲኦል ፤ ወይቀንይዎሙ ፡ ራትዓን ፡ በጽባሕ ፡ ወትበሊ ፡ ረድኤቶሙ ፡ በሲኦል ፡ እምክብሮሙ ።
Like sheep death shepherds them in Sheol; and the upright shall rule over them in the morning, and their help shall waste away in Sheol, away from their glory.
- Verse 16.
ወባሕቱ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ያድኅና ፡ ለነፍስየ ፡ እምእደ ፡ ሲኦል ፤ ሶበ ይነሥኡኒ ።
But Yahweh shall save my soul from the hand of Sheol, when he takes hold of me.
- Verse 17.
ኢትፍርሆ ፡ ለሰብእ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ይብዕል ፤ ወሶበ ፡ ይበዝኅ ፡ ክብረ ፡ ቤቱ ።
Do not fear a man when he grows rich, and when the glory of his house increases;
- Verse 18.
እስመ ፡ ኢይነሥእ ፡ መስሌሁ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ እመ ፡ ይመውት ፤ ወኢይወርድ ፡ መስሌሁ ፡ ክብረ ፡ ቤቱ ።
for when he dies he takes nothing of it with him, nor does the glory of his house go down with him.
- Verse 19.
እስመ ፡ ፈግዐት ፡ ነፍሱ ፡ በሕይወቱ ፤ የአምነከ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ታሤኒ ፡ ሎቱ ።
For his soul was at ease in his lifetime; a man praises you when you do well for him.
- Verse 20.
ወይወርድ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዓለመ ፡ አበዊሁ ፤ ወኢይሬኢ ፡ እንከ ፡ ብርሃነ ፡ እስከ ፡ ለዓለም ።
And he goes down to the world of his fathers, and he shall never again see the light.
- Verse 21.
ወእጓለ ፡ እመሕያውሰ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ክቡር ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ኢያእምረ ፤ ወኮነ ፡ ከመ ፡ እንስሳ ፡ ዘአልቦ ፡ ልበ ፡ ወተመሰሎሙ ።
But the son of mortal man, while he was held in honor, did not understand; and he became like the beasts that have no heart, and was made like them.
