  1. Verse 1.

    ፍጻሜ ፡ ዘኢዶቱም ፡ ማኅሌት ፡ ዘዳዊት ።

    To the end. A psalm of Jeduthun. A song of David.

  2. Verse 2.

    እቤ ፡ አዐቅብ ፡ አፉየ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይስሐት ፡ በልሳንየ ፤ ወአንበርኩ ፡ ዐቃቤ ፡ ለአፉየ ፤ ሶበ ፡ ይትቃወሙኒ ፡ ኃጥኣን ፡ ቅድሜየ ።

    I said: I will guard my mouth, that I sin not with my tongue; and I set a watch upon my mouth, while the sinners stood against me before me.

  3. Verse 3.

    ተጸመምኩ ፡ ወአትሐትኩ ፡ ርእስየ ፡ ወአርመምኩ ፡ ለሠናይ ፤ ወተሕደሰኒ ፡ ቍስልየ ።

    I was silent and I humbled my head and I held my peace from good; and my wound was renewed within me.

  4. Verse 4.

    ወሞቀኒ ፡ ልብየ ፡ በውስጤየ ፡ ወነደ ፡ እሳት ፡ እምአንብቦትየ ፤ ወእቤ ፡ በልሳንየ ።

    And my heart grew hot within me, and a fire was kindled at my meditation; and I spoke with my tongue.

  5. Verse 5.

    ንግረኒ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ደኃሪትየ ፡ ምንት ፡ እማንቱ ፡ ኈልቆን ፡ ለመዋዕልየ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኣእምር ፡ ለምንት ፡ እዴኀር ፡ አነ ።

    Tell me, O Yahweh, my end, what it is, and the number of my days, that I may know for what cause I am wanting.

  6. Verse 6.

    ናሁ ፡ ብሉያተ ፡ረሰይኮነ ፡ ለመዋዕልየ ፡ ወአካልየኒ ፡ ወኢከመ ፡ ምንት ፡ በቅድሜከ ፤ ወባሕቱ ፡ ከንቱ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ እጓለ ፡ እመሕያው ።

    Behold, you have made my days old [things], and my stature is as nothing before you; yet vain are all the children of those born of man.

  7. Verse 7.

    ወከመ ፡ ጽላሎት ፡ ያንሶሱ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ወባሕቱ ፡ ከንቶ ፡ ይትሀወኩ ፤ ይዘግቡ ፡ ወኢያአምሩ ፡ ለዘ ፡ ያስተጋብኡ ።

    And like a shadow does every man walk about, yet in vain are they troubled; they gather up, and know not for whom they amass it.

  8. Verse 8.

    ወይእዜኒ ፡ መኑ ፡ ተስፋየ ፡ አኮኑ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፤ ወትዕግስትየኒ ፡ እምኅቤከ ፡ ውእቱ ።

    And now, who is my hope? Is it not Yahweh? And my patient endurance is from you.

  9. Verse 9.

    ወእምኵሉ ፡ ኀጢአትየ ፡ አድኅነኒ ፤ ወረሰይከኒ ፡ ጽእለተ ፡ ለአብዳን ።

    And from all my sins deliver me; you have made me a reproach to the foolish.

  10. Verse 10.

    ተጸመምኩ ፡ ወኢከሠትኩ ፡ አፉየ ፤ እስመ ፡ አንተ ፡ ፈጠርከኒ ።

    I was silent and I opened not my mouth; for it is you who made me.

  11. Verse 11.

    አርሕቅ ፡ እምኔከ ፡ መቅሠፍተከ ፤ እስመ ፡ እምጽንዐ ፡ እዴከ ፡ ኀለቁ ፡ አነ ።

    Remove from me your scourge; for by the strength of your hand I am consumed.

  12. Verse 12.

    በተግሣጽከ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ኀጢአቱ ፡ ተዛለፍኮ ፡ ለሰብእ ፡ ወመሰውካ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሳሬት ፡ ለነፍሱ ፤ ወባሕቱ ፡ ከንቶ ፡ ይትሀወኩ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ሰብእ ።

    With your rebuke, on account of his sin, you have chastised man, and you have made his soul to waste away like a spider['s web]; yet in vain is every man troubled.

  13. Verse 13.

    ስምዐኒ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ጸሎትየ ፡ ወስእለትየ ፡ ወአፅምአኒ ፡ አንብዕየ ፡ ወኢትጸመመኒ ፤ እስመ ፡ ፈላሲ ፡ አነ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፤ ወነግድ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ አበውየ ።

    Hear my prayer, O Yahweh, and my supplication, and give ear to my tears, and be not silent toward me; for I am a sojourner in the land, and a stranger, like all my fathers.

  14. Verse 14.

    ሥኅተኒ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኣዕርፍ ፤ ዘእንበለ ፡ እሖር ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኢይገብእ ።

    Give me respite, that I may have rest, before I go where I shall not return.
