መዝሙር ፴፮

1. Verse 1.፩

   መዝሙር ፡ ዘዳዊት ። ኢትቅናእ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እኩያን ፤ ወኢትቅናእ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ገበርተ ፡ ዐመፃ ።

   A psalm of David. Do not be envious because of the wicked; nor be envious of those who do iniquity.

2. Verse 2.፪

   እስመ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሣዕር ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ይየብሱ ፤ ወከመ ፡ ኀመልማል ፡ ኀምል ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ ይወድቁ ።

   For like grass they shall quickly wither; and like green herbs they shall quickly fall.

3. Verse 3.፫

   ተወከል ፡ በእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወግበር ፡ ሠናየ ፤ ወያኀድረከ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወይሬዕየከ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ብዕላ ።

   Trust in Yahweh and do good; and he will make you dwell upon the earth and shepherd you in its abundance.

4. Verse 4.፬

   ተፈሣሕ ፡ በእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወይሁበከ ፡ ስእለተ ፡ ልብከ ።

   Delight in Yahweh, and he will give you the request of your heart.

5. Verse 5.፭

   ክሥት ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ፍኖተከ ፤ ወተወከል ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ይገብር ፡ ለከ ።

   Reveal your way to Yahweh; and trust in him, and he will act for you.

6. Verse 6.፮

   ወያመጽኣ ፡ ከመ ፡ ብርሃን ፡ ለጽድቅከ ፤ ወፍትሕከኒ ፡ ከመ ፡ መዐልት ። ግነይ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወተፀመዶ ፤

   And he will bring forth your righteousness like the light; and your justice like the noonday. Sing praise to Yahweh and submit yourself to him;

7. Verse 7.፯

   ወኢትቅናእ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ዘይዴሎ ፡ በሕይወቱ ፤ ላዕለ፡ ሰብእ ፡ ዘይገብር ፡ ዐመፃ ።

   and do not be envious of the one who prospers in his life; of the man who works iniquity.

8. Verse 8.፰

   ኅድጋ ፡ ለመዐት ፡ ወግድፋ ፡ ለቍጥዓ ፤ ወኢትቅናእ ፡ ከመ ፡ ታሕሥም ።

   Forsake anger and abandon wrath; and do not be envious so as to do evil.

9. Verse 9.፱

   እስመ ፡ እለ ፡ ያሕሥሙ ፡ ይሤረዉ ፤ ወእለሰ ፡ ይትዔገሥዎ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ እሙንቱ ፡ ይወርስዋ ፡ ለምድር ፤

   For those who do evil shall be cut off; but those who wait patiently for Yahweh, they shall inherit the earth;

10. Verse 10.፲

    ወዓዲ ፡ ኅዳጠ ፡ ወኢይሄሉ ፡ እንከ ፡ ኃጥእ ፤ ተኀሥሥ ፡ ወኢትረክብ ፡ መካኖ ።

    And yet a little while, and the sinner shall be no more; you will seek his place and not find it.

11. Verse 11.፲፩

    ወየዋሃንሰ ፡ ይወርስዋ ፡ ለምድር ፤ ወይትፌሥሑ ፡ በብዙኅ ፡ ሰላም ።

    But the meek shall inherit the earth; and they shall delight themselves in abundant peace.

12. Verse 12.፲፪

    ያስትሐይጾ ፡ ኃጥእ ፡ ለጻድቅ ፡ ወየሐቂ ፡ ስነኒሁ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ።

    The sinner watches closely for the righteous, and gnashes his teeth at him.

13. Verse 13.፲፫

    ወእግዚአብሔርሰ ፡ ይስሕቆ ። እስመ፡ ያቀድም ፡ አእምሮ ፡ ከመ ፡ በጽሐ ፡ ዕለቱ ።

    But Yahweh laughs at him. For he foresees that his day is coming.

14. Verse 14.፲፬

    ሰይፎሙ ፡ መልኁ ፡ ኃጥኣን ፡ ወወሰቁ ፡ ቀስቶሙ ፤ ከመ ፡ ይቅትልዎ ፡ ለነዳይ ፡ ወለምስኪን ፡ ወከመ ፡ ይርግዝዎሙ ፡ ለርቱዓነ ፡ ልብ ።

    The sinners have drawn their sword and bent their bow; to kill the poor and the needy, and to slay those who are upright in heart.

15. Verse 15.፲፭

    ሰይፎሙ ፡ ይባእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ልቦሙ ፤ ወይትቀጥቀጥ ፡ አቅስቲሆሙ ።

    Let their sword enter into their own hearts; and let their bows be broken.

16. Verse 16.፲፮

    ይኄይስ ፡ ኅዳጥ ፡ ዘበጽድቅ ፤ እምብዙኅ ፡ ብዕለ ፡ ኃጥኣን ።

    Better is the little that the righteous has than the great abundance of the sinners.

17. Verse 17.፲፯

    እስመ ፡ ይትቀጠቀጥ ፡ ኀይሎሙ ፡ ለኃጥኣን ፤ ያጸንዖሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ለጻድቃን ።

    For the strength of the sinners shall be broken; but Yahweh upholds the righteous.

18. Verse 18.፲፰

    ወያአምር ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ፍኖተ ፡ ንጹሓን ፤ ወለዓለም ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ርስቶሙ ።

    And Yahweh knows the way of the blameless; and their inheritance shall be forever.

19. Verse 19.፲፱

    ወኢይትኀፈሩ ፡ በመዋዕለ ፡ እኩያት ፤ ወይጸግቡ ፡ በመዋዕለ ፡ ረኃብ ።

    And they shall not be put to shame in evil days; and in days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20. Verse 20.፳

    ወኃጥኣንሰ ፡ ይትሐጐሉ ፡ ወጸላእቱሰ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ሶበ ፡ ከብሩ ፡ ወተለዐሉ ፤ የኀልቁ ፡ ወይጠፍኡ ፡ ከመ ፡ ጢስ ።

    But the sinners shall perish; and the enemies of Yahweh, when they were honored and exalted, shall come to an end and vanish like smoke.

21. Verse 22.፳፪

    ይትሌቃሕ ፡ ኃጥእ ፡ ወኢይፈዲ ፡ ወጻድቅሰ ፡ ይምሕር ፡ ወይሁብ ።

    The sinner borrows and does not repay; but the righteous shows mercy and gives.

22. Verse 24.፳፬

    እስመ ፡ እለ ፡ ይባርክዎ ፡ ይወርስዋ ፡ ለምድር ፤ ወእለሰ ፡ ይረግምዎ ፡ ይሤረዉ ።

    For those who bless him shall inherit the earth; but those who curse him shall be cut off.

23. Verse 25.፳፭

    እምኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይጸንዕ ፡ ሑረቱ ፡ ለሰብእ ፤ ለዘይፈቅድ ፡ ፍኖቶ ፡ ፈድፋደ ።

    By Yahweh the steps of a man are made firm; for the one who desires his way greatly.

24. Verse 24.፳፬

    እመኒ ፡ ወድቀ ፡ ኢይደነግፅ ፤ እስመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይሰውቆ ፡ እዴሁ ።

    Even if he falls, he shall not be cast down; for Yahweh upholds him with his hand.

25. Verse 25.፳፭

    ወርዘውኩሂ ፡ ወረሳእኩ ፤ ወጻድቅሰ ፡ ዘይትገደፍ ፡ ኢርኢኩ ፤ ወዘርዑኒ ፡ ኢይጼነስ ፡ እክለ ።

    I have been young and I have grown old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken; nor his seed lacking bread.

26. Verse 26.፳፮

    ወኵሎ ፡ አሚረ ፡ ይምሕር ፡ ወይሌቅሕ ፤ ወዘርዑሂ ፡ ውስተ ፡ በረከት ፡ ይሄሉ ።

    And all day long he shows mercy and lends; and his seed shall be a blessing.

27. Verse 27.፳፯

    ተገሕስ ፡ እምእኩይ ፡ ወግበር ፡ ሠናየ ፤ ወትነብር ፡ ለዓለመ ፡ ዓለም ።

    Turn away from evil and do good; and you shall dwell forever and ever.

28. Verse 28.፳፰

    እስመ ፡ ጽድቀ ፡ ያፈቅር ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢይገድፎሙ ፡ ለጻድቃን ፤ ወለዓለም ፡ የዐቅቦሙ ፤ ወይትቤቀሎሙ ፡ ለንጹሓን ፤ ወይሤሩ ፡ ዘርዖሙ ፡ ለኃጥኣን ።

    For Yahweh loves righteousness and will not forsake the righteous; and forever he will keep them; and he will avenge the blameless; but the seed of the sinners he will cut off.

29. Verse 29.፳፱

    ወጻድቃንሰ ፡ ይወርስዋ ፡ ለምድር ፤ ወይነብሩ ፡ ውስቴታ ፡ ለዓለመ ፡ ዓለም ።

    But the righteous shall inherit the earth; and they shall dwell in it forever and ever.

30. Verse 30.፴

    አፉሁ ፡ ለጻድቅ ፡ ይትሜሀር ፡ ጥበበ ፤ ወልሳኑ ፡ ይነብብ ፡ ጽድቀ ።

    The mouth of the righteous learns wisdom; and his tongue speaks righteousness.

31. Verse 31.፴፩

    ሕገ ፡ አምላኩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ልቡ ፤ ወኢይድኅፅ ፡ ሰኰናሁ ።

    The law of his God is in his heart; and his steps shall not slip.

32. Verse 32.፴፪

    ያስተሓይጾ ፡ ኃጥእ ፡ ለጻድቅ ፤ ወይፈቅድ ፡ ይቅትሎ ።

    The sinner watches closely for the righteous; and seeks to kill him.

33. Verse 33.፴፫

    ወኢየኀድጎ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ውስተ ፡ እዴሁ ፤ ወኢይመውኦ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ይትዋቀሡ ።

    But Yahweh will not leave him in his hand; nor condemn him when he is judged.

34. Verse 34.፴፬

    ተዐገሶ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ወዕቀብ ፡ ፍኖቶ ፡ ወያዐብየከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትረሳ ፡ ለምድር ፤ ወትሬኢ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይሠረዉ ፡ ኃጥኣን ።

    Wait patiently for Yahweh and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the earth; and you shall see the sinners cut off.

35. Verse 35.፴፭

    ርኢክዎ ፡ ለኃጥእ ፡ ዐቢየ ፤ ወተለዐለ ፡ ከመ ፡ አርዘ ፡ ሊባኖስ ።

    I have seen the sinner greatly exalted; and lifted up like a cedar of Lebanon.

36. Verse 36.፴፮

    ወሶበ ፡ እገብእ ፡ ኀጣእክዎ ፤ ኀሠሥኩ ፡ ወኢረከብኩ ፡ መካኖ ።

    And when I passed by, he was no more; I sought him and did not find his place.

37. Verse 37.፴፯

    ዕቀብ ፡ የውሀተ ፡ ወትሬኢ ፡ ጽድቀ ፤ እስመ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ተረፈ ፡ ብእሴ ፡ ሰላም ።

    Keep gentleness and you shall see righteousness; for in it there remains a man of peace.

38. Verse 38.፴፰

    ወዐማፂያንሰ ፡ ይሤረዉ ፤ ወይሤረዉ ፡ ትራፋቲሆሙ ፡ ለኃጥኣን ።

    But the transgressors shall be cut off; and the remnants of the sinners shall be cut off.

39. Verse 39.፴፱

    መድኀኒቶሙ ፡ ለጻድቃን ፡ እምኀበ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፤ ወቀዋሚሆሙ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ በጊዜ ፡ መንዳቤሆሙ ።

    The salvation of the righteous is from Yahweh; and he is their defender in the time of their distress.

40. Verse 40.፵

    ይረድኦሙ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወያድኅኖሙ ፤ ወያነግፎሙ ፡ እምእደ ፡ ኃጥኣን ፡ ወያድኅኖሙ ፤ እስመ ፡ ተወከሉ ፡ ቦቱ ።

    Yahweh will help them and deliver them; and he will rescue them from the hand of the sinners and save them; for they have trusted in him.
