- Verse 1.
ለምንት ፡ አንገለጉ ፡ አሕዛብ ፤ ወሕዘብኒ ፡ ነበቡ ፡ ከንቶ ።
Why have the nations raged, and the peoples murmured vain things?
- Verse 2.
ወተንሥኡ ፡ ነገሥተ ፡ ምድር ፤ ወመላእክትኒ ፡ ተጋብኡ ፡ ምስሌሆሙ ፡ ኅብረ ፤ ላዕለ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወላዕለ ፡ መሲሑ ።
The kings of the earth rose up, and the rulers gathered themselves together in one company, against Yahweh and against his Anointed:
- Verse 3.
ንበትክ ፡ እምኔነ ፡ መኣሥሪሆሙ ፤ ወንገድፍ ፡ እምላዕሌነ ፡ አርዑቶሙ ።
“Let us break their bonds from us, and cast off their yoke from upon us.”
- Verse 4.
ዘይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ሰማይ ፡ ይሥሕቆሙ ፤ ወእግዚአብሔር ፡ ይሳለቅ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ።
He who dwells in heaven shall laugh them to scorn, and Yahweh shall mock at them.
- Verse 5.
ሶበ ፡ ይነቦሙ ፡ በመዐቱ ፤ ወበመዐቱ ፡ የሀውኮሙ ።
Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and in his wrath he shall trouble them:
- Verse 6.
ወአንሰ ፡ ተሠየምኩ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ በላዕሌሆሙ ፤ በጽዮን ፡ በደብረ ፡ መቅደሱ ።
“But I have been appointed king over them, upon Zion, upon the mountain of his sanctuary,
- Verse 7.
ከመ ፡ እንግር ፡ ትእዛዞ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ይቤለኒ ፡ ወልዱየ ፡ እንተ ፤ ወአነ ፡ ዮም ፡ ወለድኩከ ።
that I may declare the decree of Yahweh. Yahweh said to me: You are my Son; and I, this day, have begotten you.
- Verse 8.
ሰአል ፡ እምነየ ፡ ወእሁብከ ፡ አሕዛበ ፡ ለርስትከ ፤ ወምኵናኒከኒ ፡ እስከ ፡ አጽናፈ ፡ ምድር ።
Ask of me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and your dominion to the ends of the earth.
- Verse 9.
ወትሬዕዮሙ ፡ በበትረ ፡ ኀጺን ፤ ወከመ ፡ ንዋየ ፡ ለብሓ ፡ ትቀጠቅጦሙ ።
And you shall shepherd them with a rod of iron, and like a potter's vessel you shall break them in pieces.”
- Verse 10.
ወይእዜኒ ፡ ነገሥት ፡ ለብዉ ፤ ወተገሠጹ ፡ ኵልክሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ትኬንንዋ ፡ ለምድር ።
And now, O kings, understand; be instructed, all you who judge the earth.
- Verse 11.
ተቀነዩ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ በፍርሀት ፤ ወተሐሠዩ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ በረዐድ ።
Serve Yahweh in fear, and rejoice in him with trembling.
- Verse 12.
አጽንዕዋ ፡ ለጥበብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይትመዓዕ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ወኢትትሐጐሉ ፡ እምፍኖተ ፡ ጽድቅ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ነደት ፡ ፍጡነ ፡ መዐቱ ፤ ብፁዓን ፡ ኵሎሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ተወከሉ ፡ ቦቱ ።
Lay hold of wisdom, that Yahweh be not angry, and that you do not perish from the way of righteousness, when his wrath shall be kindled suddenly. Blessed are all they who have trusted in him.
