መዝሙር ፻፳፮

1. Verse 1.፩

   ማኅሌት ፡ ዘበመዓርጊሁ ። እመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኢሐነጸ ፡ ቤተ ፡ ከንቶ ፡ ይጻምዉ ፡ እለ ፡ የሐንጹ ። እመ ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ኢዐቀበ ፡ ሀገረ ፡ ከንቶ ፡ ይተግሁ ፡ እለ ፡ ይሔልዉ ።

   A Song of the Ascents. Unless Yahweh builds the house, in vain do those who build it labor. Unless Yahweh keeps the city, in vain do those who watch keep awake.

2. Verse 2.፪

   ወከንቱ ፡ ገይሶትክሙ ፤ ተንሥኡ ፡ እምድኅረ ፡ ነበርክሙ ፡ እለ ፡ ትሴሰዩ ፡ እክለ ፡ ሕማም ፡ ሶበ ፡ ይሁቦሙ ፡ ንዋመ ፡ ለፍቁራኒሁ ።

   And your rising is in vain; rise up after you have sat, you who eat the bread of toil, when he gives sleep to his beloved.

3. Verse 3.፫

   ናሁ ፡ ጸጋሁ ፡ ለእግዚአብሔር ፡ ውሉድ ፤ ዕሤተ ፡ ፍሬሃ ፡ ለከርሥ ።

   Behold, children are the gift of Yahweh; the fruit of the womb is a reward.

4. Verse 4.፬

   ከመ ፡ አሕጻ ፡ ውስተ ፡ እደ ፡ ኀያል ፤ ከማሁ ፡ ደቂቆሙ ፡ ለንጉፋን ።

   Like arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of those who were cast out.

5. Verse 5.፭

   ብፁዕ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ዘይፌጽም ፡ ፍትወቶ ፡ እምኔሆሙ ፤ ወኢይትኀፈር ፡ ሶበ ፡ ይትናገሮሙ ፡ ለጸላእቱ ፡ በአናቅጽ ።

   Blessed is the man who fulfills his desire from them; and he shall not be ashamed when he speaks to his enemies in the gates.
