- Verse 1.
ማኅሌት ፡ ዘበመዓርጊሁ ። ኀቤከ ፡ እግዚኦ ፡ ጸራኅኩ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ተመንደብኩ ፡ ወሰማዕከኒ ።
A Song of the Ascents. To you, O Yahweh, I cried out when I was afflicted, and you heard me.
- Verse 2.
እግዚኦ ፡ አድኅና ፡ ለነፍስየ ፡ እምከናፍረ ፡ ዐመፃ ፤ ወእምልሳነ ፡ ጽልሑት ።
O Yahweh, deliver my soul from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue.
- Verse 3.
ምንተ ፡ ይሁብከ ፡ ወምንተ ፡ ይዌስኩከ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ከናፍረ ፡ ጕሕሉት ።
What shall be given to you, and what shall be added to you, on account of treacherous lips?
- Verse 4.
አሕጻሁ ፡ ለኀያል ፡ ስሑል ፤ ከመ ፡ አፍሓመ ፡ ሐቅል ።
The sharpened arrows of the mighty one, like the coals of the wilderness.
- Verse 5.
ሴልየ ፡ ዘርሕቀ ፡ ማኅደርየ ፤ ወኀደርኩ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አዕጻዳተ ፡ እለ ፡ ቄዳር ።
Woe is me, for my sojourning has been prolonged; and I have dwelt among the tents of Kedar.
- Verse 6.
ብዙኀ ፡ ተዐገሠት ፡ ነፍስየ ፤
Long has my soul endured;
- Verse 7.
ምስለ ፡ እለ ፡ ይጸልኡ ፡ ሰላመ ። እንዘ ፡ ሰላማዊ ፡ አነ ፤ ወሶበ ፡ እትነገሮሙ ፡ ይፀብኡኒ ፡ በከንቱ ።
with those who hate peace. While I am peaceable, and when I speak to them, they make war against me without cause.
