1. Verse 1.፩

   ወፈሃራ፣ሰሎምን፣ለወለተ፣ፈርዖን፣ንጉሥ፣ግብጽ፣ወንሥእ፣ለወለተ፣ፈርዖን፣ወአተዋ፣ውስተ፣ሀገረ፣ዳዊት፣እስከ፣ይፌጽም፣ነዲቀ፣ቤቶ፣ወቤተ፣እግዚአብሔር፣ወአረፍተ፣ኢየሩሳሌም፣ቅጾራ ✣

   And Solomon made a marriage-alliance with the daughter of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he took the daughter of Pharaoh and brought her into the city of David, until he should finish the building of his house, and the house of Yahweh, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

2. Verse 2.፪

   እስም፣ሕዝብ፣የዓጥኑ፣ውስተ፣አድባር፣ወአተሐንጾ፣ቤተ፣ለስም፣እግዚአብሔር፣እስከ፣ዛቲ፣ዕለት

   for the people were sacrificing on the high places, since a house had not yet been built for the name of Yahweh, until this day.

3. Verse 3.፫

   ወአፍቀር፣ሰሎሞን፣ለእግዚአብሔር፣ከመ፣የሐር፣በትእአዘ፣ዳዊት፣አቡሁ፣ወባሕተ፣ውስተ፣አድባር፣ይውዕ፣ወያዓጥን

   And Solomon loved Yahweh, walking in the statute of David his father; only upon the high places he would offer and burn incense.

4. Verse 4.፬

   ወተንሥአ፣ወሐሬ፣ንጉሥ፣ውከት፣ገባአን፣ከመ፣ይውዕ፣በህየ፣እስም፣ይእቲ፣ትውን፣ወተዓቢ ✣

   And the king rose and went to Gibeon to offer there, for it was the great high place.

5. Verse 5.፭

   መሥዋዕተ፣ሥዓ፣ሰሎምን፣ውስተ፣ዛቲ፣ምሥዋዕ ✣ ወአስተርአየ፣እግዚአብሔር፣ለሰሎምን፣በገባአን፣በሬእየ፣ሌሊት፣ወይቤሎ፣እግዚአብሔር፣ለሰሎምን፣ሰአል፣ለከ፣ብእቢት፣ዘሃለየ፣ልብከ፣ከመ፣አሀብከ

   Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings upon that altar. And Yahweh appeared to Solomon at Gibeon in a vision of the night, and Yahweh said to Solomon: Ask what I shall give you.

6. Verse 6.፮

   ወይቤሎ፣ሰሎምን፣አንተ፣ገብርከ፣ለገብርከ፣ዳዊት፣አቡየ፣ምሕረተ፣ዓቢየ፣በከመ፣ሐረከ፣ቅድሜክ፣በጽድቅ፣ወርትዕ፣ወበየዋህተ፣ልብ፣ምስሌክ፣ወአቀብክ፣ሎቱ፣ዛተ፣ምሕረተ፣ዓቢየ፣ወወሀብክ፣ወልደ፣ዘይነብር፣ዲበ፣መንበሩ፣በዛቲ፣ዕለት

   And Solomon said: You yourself showed your servant David my father great kindness, according as he walked before you in truth and righteousness and uprightness of heart with you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, and you have given him a son who sits upon his throne, as on this day.

7. Verse 7.፯

   ወይእዜኒ፣እግዚአ፣አምላኪየ፣አንተ፣አንገሥከ፣ለገብርከ፣ህየንተ፣ዳዊት፣አቡየ፣ወአነ፣ሕፃን፣ንኡስ፣ወኢያአምር፣ሙዓእየ፣ወሙባእየ

   And now, O Yahweh my God, you have made your servant king in place of David my father, and I am a little child, and I do not know how to go out or to come in.

8. Verse 8.፰

   ወገብርከሰ፣ሀሎ፣በማእከለ፣ሕዝብክ፣ዘኀረይክ፣ሕዝበ፣ብዙኅ፣ዘኢይትዐለቆ

   And your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen, a people numerous, that cannot be counted [for multitude].

9. Verse 9.፱

   ሀብ፣ለገብርከ፣ልብ፣በዘይስምዕ፣ወየገብእ፣ፍትሐ፣ለሕዝብክ፣ወከመ፣ያእምር፣ወይፍልጥ፣ማእከለ፣ሠናይ፣ወእኩይ፣እስም፣አልቦ፣ዘይክል፣ኩንኖት፣ለዝንቱ፣ሕዝብ፣ክቡድ

   Give to your servant a heart that hears [an understanding heart], to render justice to your people, and that he may discern and distinguish between good and evil; for who is able to judge this weighty people?

10. Verse 10.፲

    ወአደም፣ዝንቱ፣ነገር፣ቅድሜሁ፣ለእግዚአብሔር፣እስም፣ሰአለ፣ሰሎምን፣ዘንተ፣ነገረ ✣

    And this word pleased Yahweh, that Solomon asked this thing.

11. Verse 11.፲፩

    ወይቤሎ፣እግዚአብሔር፣እስም፣ሰአልከ፣ለከ፣እምኔየ፣ዘንተ፣ቃለ፣ወኢሰአልከ፣ለከ፣ብዙኅ፣መዋዕለ፣ወኢሰአልከ፣ለከ፣ብዕለ፣ወኢሰአልከ፣ለከ፣ነፍሰ፣ፀርከ፣አላ፣ሰአልከ፣ለከ፣ከመ፣ታእምር፣ስሚዓ፣ፍትሐ ✣

    And Yahweh said to him: Because you have asked of me this word, and have not asked for yourself long life [many days], nor have asked for yourself riches, nor have asked for yourself the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to hear judgment —

12. Verse 12.፲፪

    ናሁ፣ገበርኩ፣ለከ፣በከመ፣ትቤ፣ናሁ ✣ ወሀብኩክ፣ልብ፣ጠቢበ፣ወለባዊ፣ወአልቦ፣ዘኮነ ✣ እምቅድሜክ፣እምድኅሬክኒ፣ኢይትነሣእ፣ዘከማክ

    behold, I have done according to your word; behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been none like you before you, and after you none shall arise like you.

13. Verse 13.፲፫

    ወዘሂ፣ኢሰአልክኒ፣እሁብክ፣ክብረ፣ወብለ፣ከመ፣ኢኮነ፣ሰብእ፣ከማክ፣በመንግሥት፣በኩሉ ✣

    And also what you did not ask I give you, both honor and riches, so that there shall not be a man like you among the kings in all your days.

14. Verse 14.፲፬

    መዋዕልክ፣ለእመ፣ሐርክ፣በፍኖትየ፣ወዓቀብክ፣ትእዛዝየ፣ወሥርዓትየ፣ከመ፣ሐረ፣ዳዊት፣አቡከ፣አበዝኆ፣መዋዕልክ

    And if you walk in my way and keep my commandments and my ordinances, as David your father walked, I will lengthen your days.

15. Verse 15.፲፭

    ወነቅሕ፣ሰሎምን፣ወአእመረ፣ከመ፣ውእቱ፣ሕልም፣ወተንሥአ፣ወሐረ፣ኢየሩሳሌም፣ወቆመ፣ቅድመ፣ታቦተ፣ሕጉ፣ለእግዚአብሔር፣ወአብአ፣መሥዋዕተ፣ሰላም፣ወገብረ፣ምስሐ፣ዓቢየ፣ለኩሉ፣አግብርቲሁ ✣

    And Solomon awoke, and he knew that it was a dream; and he rose and went to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, and offered peace offerings, and made a great feast for all his servants.

16. Verse 16.፲፮

    ወይእቲ፣አሚረ፣መጻአ፣ክልኤቱ፣አንስት፣ዘማት፣ኀበ፣ንጉሥ፣ወቆማ፣ቅድሜሁ

    And at that time two women, harlots, came to the king, and stood before him.

17. Verse 17.፲፯

    ወትቤ፣አሐቲ፣ብእሲት፣ስምዓኒ፣እግዚእየ፣አነ፣ወዛቲ፣ብእሲት፣ንነብር፣ውስተ፣አሐዱ፣ቤት፣ወወለድኩ፣ቦ፣መካን ✣

    And the one woman said: Hear me, my lord; I and this woman dwell in one house, and I gave birth while with her in the house.

18. Verse 18.፲፰

    ወአመ፣ሣልስት፣ዕለት፣ዘወለድኩ፣አነ፣ዛቲኒ፣ብእሲት፣ወለደት፣ወንነብር፣ሕቡረ፣ወአልቦ፣ካልእ፣ምስሌነ፣ወእምነሂ፣እንበለ፣ክልኤነ፣ውስተ፣ዝንቱ፣ቤት ✣

    And on the third day after I gave birth, this woman also gave birth; and we were together, and there was no other with us, and there was no one in the house except the two of us.

19. Verse 19.፲፱

    ወሞት፣ወልዳ፣ለዛቲ፣ብእሲት፣በሌሊት፣እስም፣ስከበት፣ሳዕሌሁ ✣ ወተንሥት፣መንፈቀ፣ሌሊት፣ወንሥእት፣ወልድየ፣እምነ፣ሕፅንየ፣ወእንዘ፣ትነውም፣አመትከ፣ወአስከበቶ፣ውስተ፣ሕፅና

    And the son of this woman died in the night, because she lay upon it. And she arose in the middle of the night, and took my son from beside me, while your handmaid was asleep, and laid him in her bosom,

20. Verse 20.፳

    ወወልድ፣ዚአሃ፣ዘሞተ፣አስከበቶ፣ውስተ፣ሕፅንየ፣ወኮንኩ፣አህኩ፣በጻሕ፣ከመ፣አጥቡ፣ወልድየ፣ረከብኩ፣ዘክሙ፣ምወት፣ወሶበ፣ጸብሐ፣ርኢክም፣ወናሁ፣ኢከነ፣ወልድየ፣ዘወለድኩ ✣

    and her own son who had died she laid in my bosom. And I rose in the morning to nurse my son, and I found him dead; but when it was light I looked at him, and behold, it was not my son whom I had borne.

21. Verse 21.፳፩

    ወትቤ፣እንታክቲ፣ብእሲት፣ክልኤት፣አልቦ፣ዝንቱ፣ወልድ፣ሕያው፣ወልድየ፣ሊተ፣ወወልድኪ፣ዘክቲ፣ምወት፣ወትብሃላ፣ከመ፣ቅድመ፣ንጉሥ፣ወይቤሎ፣ንጉሥ፣አንቲኒ፣ትብሊ፣ዝንቱ፣ሕያው፣ወልድየ፣ወወልድ፣ዚአሃ፣ዘሞተ፣ወእንቲኒ፣ትብሊ፣አልቦ፣ወልድ፣ዚአየ፣ሕያው፣ወእቱ፣ወልድ፣ዚአሃ፣ዘሞተ ✣

    And the other woman said: No, it is not so; this living one is my son, and your son is the dead one. And they spoke thus before the king. And the king said: You say, This living one is my son, and her son is the dead one; and you say, No, my son is the living one, and her son is the dead one.

22. Verse 22.፳፪

    ወይቤ፣ንጉሥ፣አምጽኡ፣ሊተ፣መጥባሕተ፣ወአምጽኡ፣መጥባሕተ፣ቅድመ፣ንጉሥ ✣

    And the king said: Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

23. Verse 23.፳፫

    ወይቤ፣ንጉሥ፣ምትሮ፣ለዝንቱ፣ሕፃን፣ዘሕያው፣ለክልኤሆሙ ✣ መንፈቆ፣ለዛቲ፣ወመንፈቆ፣ለእንታክቲ ✣

    And the king said: Divide this living child in two, and give half to the one and half to the other.

24. Verse 24.፳፬

    ወአውሥአት፣እንታክቲ፣ብእሲት፣ዘሕያው፣ሕፃን፣ለንጉሥ፣እስም፣ተሃውክ፣ከርሣ፣በእንተ፣ወልዳ፣ወትቤ፣እግዚእየ፣ሀባ፣ዘንተ፣ወልድ፣ሕያው፣ወቅቲለሰ፣ኢትቅትልዎ ✣

    And the woman whose son was the living child answered the king — for her heart was stirred over her son — and she said: My lord, give her the living child, and do not kill it.

25. Verse 25.፳፭

    ወትቤ፣እንታክቲ፣ኢይኩን፣ሊተ፣ወኢላቲ፣አይከፍልኒ

    But the other said: Let it be neither mine nor yours; divide it.

26. Verse 26.፳፮

    ወአውሥአ፣ንጉሥ፣ወይቤ፣ሀብዋ፣ዘንተ፣ወልደ፣ሕያው፣ለዛቲ፣ብእሲት፣ወቅቲለሰ፣ኢቲቅትል፣ያእስም፣ይእቲ፣እሙ

    And the king answered and said: Give the living child to this woman, and do not kill it; she is its mother.

27. Verse 27.፳፯

    ወስምዑ፣ኩሉ፣እስራኤል፣ዘንተ፣ፍትሐ፣ዘፈትሐ፣ንጉሥ፣ወፈርሁ፣ኩሉ፣እስራኤል፣እምቅድመ፣ገጹ፣ለንጉሥ ✣ እስም፣ርእዩ፣ከመ፣ጥበበ፣እግዚአብሔር፣ሀሉ፣ሳዕሌሁ፣ከመ፣ይግበርኔ ✣ ወፍትሐ ✣ ወእምዝ፣ከነ፣ንጉሥ፣ሰሎምን

    And all Israel heard the judgment that the king had judged, and they feared before the face of the king; for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to render judgment. And so Solomon became king.
