  1. Verse 1.

    ወዳዊትሰ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ልህቀ ፡ ወሐለፈ ፡ መዋዕሊሁ ፡ ወይካድንዎም ፡ እልባስ ፡ ወኢይመውቅ

    Now David the king had grown old and his days had passed, and they would cover him with garments, but he could not get warm.

  2. Verse 2.

    ወይቤልዎ ፡ አግብርቲሁ ፡ ለዳዊት ፡ ይኅሥሥዎ ፡ ለእግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወስተ ፡ ድንግለ ፡ ወያምጽእዋ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወትስክብ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ወትሣቅሮ ፡ ወትስተማውቆ ፡ ለእግዚእ ፡ ንጉሥ

    And his servants said to David: Let them seek for my lord the king a virgin; and let them bring her to the king, and let her lie with him and embrace him and keep my lord the king warm.

  3. Verse 3.

    ወኀሠሡ ፡ ወለተ ፡ ወናይተ ፡ እምኩሉ ፡ ደወለ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወረከቡ ፡ ብእሲተ ፡ አቢሳሁ ፡ አሜናዊተ ፡ ወወሰድዋ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ንጉሥ

    And they sought a beautiful young woman from all the territory of Israel, and they found Abishag the Shunammite, and they brought her to the king.

  4. Verse 4.

    ወለትሰ ፡ ወናይት ፡ ሥነ ፡ ላሕይ ፡ ወነበረት ፡ እንዘ ፡ ተሐቅር ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ ወንጉሥሰ ፡ ኢያእመራ

    And the young woman was exceedingly beautiful in form, and she dwelt embracing the king [tending him], but the king did not know her.

  5. Verse 5.

    ወአዶንያስ ፡ ወልዲ ፡ አጊት ፡ ተንሥአ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፡ አነ ፡ እንግሥ ፡ ወገብረ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ሠረገላተ ፡ ወአፍራስ ፡ ፶ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ እለ ፡ ይረውዑ ፡ ቅድሜሁ

    And Adonijah son of Haggith exalted himself, saying: I shall be king. And he made for himself chariots and horsemen and fifty men who ran before him.

  6. Verse 6.

    ወኢክልኦ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ በመዋዕሊሁ ፡ ወኢይቤሎ ፡ ለምንት ፡ ትገብር ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ወናይ ፡ ወእቱ ፡ ሳሕየ ፡ ገጹ ፡ ፈድፋዱ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ተወልዱ ፡ እምድኅሬ ፡ አበሴሎም

    And his father never rebuked him in his days, nor said to him: Why do you do thus? And he too was very fair of face [handsome], and he was born after Absalom.

  7. Verse 7.

    ወኩሉ ፡ ምክሩ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ወልዲ ፡ ሁርሕየ ፡ ወምስለ ፡ አብያታር ፡ ካህን ፡ ወይሬድእም ፡ ለአዶንያስ

    And all his counsel was with Joab son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest, and they helped Adonijah.

  8. Verse 8.

    ወሳዶቅ ፡ ካህን ፡ ወብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዮዳሄ ፡ ወናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፡ ወሰሚ ፡ ወሬዓሚ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ኃይሉ ፡ ለዳዊት ፡ ኢተለውዎ ፡ ለአዶንያስ

    But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men of David, did not follow Adonijah.

  9. Verse 9.

    ወጠብሐ ፡ አዶንያስ ፡ አባግዐ ፡ ወእጣሌ ፡ ወአልህምተ ፡ በኀበ ፡ እብን ፡ ዝሕልት ፡ ዘማእሰል ፡ ዓይነ ፡ እግር ፡ ወጸውዓ ፡ ኩሎ ፡ እኅዊሁ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወኩሎ ፡ እደወ ፡ ይሁዳ

    And Adonijah slaughtered sheep and calves and oxen by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside the spring of Rogel [the foot], and he called all his brothers, the sons of the king, and all the men of Judah.

  10. Verse 10.

    ወለናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፡ ወለብንያስ ፡ ወጸኑዳኒሆሙ ፡ ወለስሎሞን ፡ እኁሁ ፡ ኢጸውዓሙ

    But Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and their mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he did not call.

  11. Verse 11.

    ወይቤለ ፡ ናታን ፡ ለቤርሳቤሕ ፡ እመ ፡ ስሎሞን ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፡ ኢሰማዕኪኑ ፡ ከመ ፡ ነግሠ ፡ አዶንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ አጊት ፡ ወእግዚእነሰ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ኢያእመረ

    And Nathan said to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying: Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has become king, and our lord David the king does not know?

  12. Verse 12.

    ወይእዜኒ ፡ ንዒ ፡ እመክረኪ ፡ ምክረ ፡ ወታድኅኒ ፡ ነፍሰኪ ፡ ወነፍሰ ፡ ስሎሞን ፡ ወልድኪ

    And now come, let me counsel you with counsel, that you may save your own life and the life of Solomon your son.

  13. Verse 13.

    ሐዊረ ፡ ወእንበአ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወትብልዮ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ እስመ ፡ አንተ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ መሐልከ ፡ ለአመትኪ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትብል ፡ እስመ ፡ ወልድኪ ፡ ስሎሞን ፡ ይነግሥ ፡ እምድኅሬየ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ መንበርየ

    Go and enter to the king and say to him: Did not you, my lord the king, swear to your handmaid, saying: Your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? [Why then has Adonijah become king?]

  14. Verse 14.

    ወእንበልዕ ፡ አዶንያስ ፡ ወእንዘ ፡ ትትናገሪ ፡ አንቲ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ሀየ ፡ ወአነ ፡ እበውእ ፡ ድኃሬኪ ፡ ወእፌጽም ፡ ነገረኪ

    And behold, while you are still speaking there with the king, I myself will come in after you and confirm your words.

  15. Verse 15.

    ወቦአት ፡ ቤርሳቤሕ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጽርሕ ፡ ወንጉሥሰ ፡ ልህቀ ፡ ጥቀ ፡ ወአቢሳ ፡ ስሜናዊት ፡ ትትለእኮ ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ ወደናንት ፡ ቤርሳቤሕ ፡ ወስገደት ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ ወይቤላ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ምንተ ፡ ከንኪ

    And Bathsheba went in to the king, into the chamber; and the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king. And Bathsheba bowed and prostrated herself before the king, and the king said to her: What is it with you?

  16. Verse 16.

    ወትቤሎ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ አንተ ፡ መሐልክ ፡ በእግዚአ ፡ ብሔር ፡ አምላክከ ፡ ለአመትከ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ትብል ፡ ከመ ፡ ሰሎሞን ፡ ወልድኪ ፡ ይነግሥ ፡ እምድኅሬየ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ይነብር ፡ በዲበ ፡ መንበርየ

    And she said to him: My lord the king, you swore by Yahweh your God to your handmaid, saying: Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.

  17. Verse 17.

    ወዓሁ ፡ ይእዜ ፡ ናሁ ፡ አዶንያስ ፡ ወአንተ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ኢያእመር ፡ ከ

    And now behold, Adonijah [reigns], and you, my lord the king, do not know it.

  18. Verse 18.

    ወጠብሐ ፡ አልህምተ ፡ አባግዓ ፡ ወእጣሌ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ ወጸውዓ ፡ ኩሎ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወለአብያታር ፡ ካህን ፡ ወለኢዮአብ ፡ መልአከ ፡ ኃይሉ ፡ ወለሰሎሞንሰ ፡ ገብርከ ፡ ኢጸውዓ

    And he has slaughtered oxen and sheep and calves in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the commander of the army; but Solomon your servant he did not call.

  19. Verse 19.

    ወአንተ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ አዕይንተ ፡ ኩሉ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ይሴፈዉ ፡ ከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ታይድዖሙ ፡ መኑ ፡ ይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ መንበረ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ እምድኅረ ፡ ከ

    And as for you, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are upon you, that you should declare to them who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king after you.

  20. Verse 20.

    እሞ ፡ ስክበ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ምስለ ፡ አበዊሁ ፡ ወንከውን ፡ አነ ፡ ወሰሎሞን ፡ ወልድየ ፡ ኃጥአ

    Otherwise it will be, when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and Solomon my son will be counted as offenders [sinners].

  21. Verse 21.

    ወእንዘ ፡ ዓዲ ፡ ትትናገር ፡ ምስለ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወዮኣ ፡ ናታን ፡ ነቢይ

    And while she was still speaking with the king, behold, Nathan the prophet came in.

  22. Verse 22.

    ወነገርዎ ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ ናሁ ፡ ናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፡ መጽአ ፡ ወቦአ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወሰገደ ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ በገጹ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር

    And they told the king, saying: Behold, Nathan the prophet has come. And he came before the king and bowed to the king with his face to the ground.

  23. Verse 23.

    ወይቤ ፡ ሎ ፡ ናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ አንተኑ ፡ ትቤ ፡ አዶንያስ ፡ ይነግሥ ፡ እምድኅሬየ ፡ ወውእቱ ፡ ይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ መንበርየ

    And Nathan the prophet said to him: My lord the king, did you say, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?

  24. Verse 24.

    እስመ ፡ ወረዱ ፡ የዓም ፡ ወጠብሐ ፡ አልህምተ ፡ አባግዓ ፡ ወእጣሌ ፡ ብዙኀ ፡ ወጸውዓሙ ፡ ለኩሎሙ ፡ ደቂቀ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወመላእክተ ፡ ኃይል ፡ ወለአብያታር ፡ ካህን ፡ ወሀለዉ ፡ ይበልዑ ፡ ወይሰትዩ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ፡ ወይቤልዎ ፡ ሕየው ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ አዶንያስ

    For he has gone down today and slaughtered oxen and sheep and calves in abundance, and called all the sons of the king, and the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest, and behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and they have said to him: Long live King Adonijah!

  25. Verse 25.

    ወኢ ፡ ያየዕሰ ፡ ገብርከ ፡ ወለሳዶቅ ፡ ካህን ፡ ወለብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዮዳሄ ፡ ወለሰሎሞን ፡ ገብርከ ፡ ኢጸውዓ

    But me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Solomon your servant, he did not call.

  26. Verse 26.

    ለእመ ፡ ኮነ ፡ እምኀበ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ንገር ፡ ወኢነገርከ ፡ ለገብርከ ፡ መኑ ፡ ይነብር ፡ ውስተ ፡ መንበረ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ እምድኅሬሁ

    If this matter has come from my lord the king, then why have you not told your servant who shall sit upon the throne of my lord the king after him?

  27. Verse 27.

    ወአውሥአ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ጸውዑ ፡ ለቤርሳቤሕ ፡ ወቦአት ፡ ወቆመት ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ንጉሥ

    And David the king answered and said: Call Bathsheba to me. And she came in and stood before the king.

  28. Verse 28.

    ወመሐለ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ሕያው ፡ እግዚአብሔር ፡ ዘቤዘዋ ፡ ለነፍስየ ፡ እምኩሉ ፡ ምንዳቤየ

    And the king swore and said: As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed my soul from all my distress —

  29. Verse 29.

    በከመ ፡ መሐልኩ ፡ ለኪ ፡ በእግዚአ ፡ እብሔር ፡ እምስከ ፡ እስ

    even as I swore to you by Yahweh the God of Israel, saying: [Surely Solomon your son shall reign after me] —

  30. Verse 30.

    ዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ⟦illegible⟧ ዳዊት ፡ ለዓለም

    [so will I do] this day. [So spoke] David [the king] forever [the perpetual oath]. [illegible]

  31. Verse 31.

    ወይቤ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ጸውዑ ፡ ለሳዶቅሃ ፡ ካህን ፡ ወብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዮዳዜ ፡ ለናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፡ ወቦኡ ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ንጉሥ

    And David the king said: Call to me Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet. And they came in before the king.

  32. Verse 32.

    ወቤሎሙ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ንሥኡ ፡ እግብርተ ፡ እግዚእክሙ ፡ ምስሌክሙ ፡ ወአዕዕኑ ፡ ዎ ፡ ለሰሎሞን ፡ ወልድየ ፡ ዲበ ፡ በቅልየ ፡ ወአውርድዎ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግዮን

    And the king said to them: Take with you the servants of your lord, and mount Solomon my son upon my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.

  33. Verse 33.

    ወቅብእዎ ፡ በህየ ፡ ሳዶቅ ፡ ካህን ፡ ወናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፡ እሙ ፡ ይንግሥ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ወንፍኁ ፡ ቀርነ ፡ ወበሉ ፡ ይሕየዉ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ስሎሞን

    And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there, that he may reign over Israel; and blow the trumpet and say: Long live King Solomon!

  34. Verse 34.

    ወዕርጉ ፡ ወትልዉዎ ፡ ድኅሬሁ ፡ ይባእ ፡ ወይነብር ፡ ናሁ ፡ መንበርየ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ይንግሥ ፡ ህየንቴየ ፡ ወአነ ፡ እዘዝኩ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይን ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እስራኤል

    And come up after him, and let him come in and sit upon my throne; behold, it is my throne — he shall reign in my place; and I have commanded that he be king over Israel.

  35. Verse 35.

    ወሳዕለ ፡ ይሁ ፡ ወእውሥእ ፡ ብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዮዳዜ ፡ ወይ ፡ ሎ ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ ወይኩን ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ምእመኑ ፡ ይሬሲ ፡ እግዚአ ፡ ብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ እግዚእ ፡ ንጉሥ

    [And he shall be ruler] over [Israel and over] Judah. And [the king said]: I have appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada [over the army], that he may be [commander] for the king; and so may it be. Faithful is the one whom Yahweh the God of my lord the king establishes.

  36. Verse 36.

    በከመ ፡ ሀለወ ፡ እግዚአ ፡ ብሔር ፡ ምስለ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ የሀሉ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ሰሎሞን ፡ ወይዕብዮ ፡ መንበሩ ፡ እምነ ፡ መንበረ ፡ እግዚእየ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ዳዊት

    As Yahweh has been with my lord the king, so may he be with Solomon, and may he make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.

  37. Verse 37.

    ወወረዱ ፡ ሳዶቅ ፡ ካህን ፡ ወናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፡ ወብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዮዳዜ ፡ ኪሊቲ ፡ ወፈልቲ ፡ ወአጽዓኑ ፡ ዎ ፡ ለሰሎ ፡ ሳዕለ ፡ በቅለ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ወስድዎ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግዮን

    And Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down, and they mounted Solomon upon the mule of King David, and led him to Gihon.

  38. Verse 38.

    ወነሥአ ፡ ሳዶቅ ፡ ካህን ፡ ቀርነ ፡ ቅብእ ፡ እምነ ፡ ደብተራ ፡ ወቀብእ ፡ ለሰሎሞን ፡ ወነፍሁ ፡ በቀርን ፡ ወይቤሉ ፡ ኩሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ይሕየዉ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ስሎሞን

    And Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tent, and anointed Solomon, and they blew the trumpet, and all the people said: Long live King Solomon!

  39. Verse 39.

    ወዓርጉ ፡ ኩሉ ፡ ሕዝብ ፡ ወተለውዎ ፡ ድኅሬሁ ፡ ወዘበጡ ፡ ከበሮ ፡ ወመስቆ ፡ ወተፈሥሑ ፡ ዓቢየ ፡ ፍሥሐ ፡ ወደንገፀት ፡ ምድር ፡ በቃሎሙ

    And all the people went up and followed after him, and they beat the drum [tabret] and played the flute [pipe], and they rejoiced with great joy, and the earth was shaken [resounded] at their voice.

  40. Verse 40.

    ወሰምዓ ፡ አዶንያስ ፡ ወኩሉ ፡ ጼዉዓን ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ዘህለዉ ፡ ወእሙንቱሰ ፡ አኅለቁ ፡ መሲሐ ፡ ወሰምዓ ፡ ኢዮአብ ፡ ቃለ ፡ ቀርን ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ምንት ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ድምፀ ፡ ሀገር

    And Adonijah heard, and all who were called with him, who were there — and they had finished the meal; and Joab heard the sound of the trumpet and said: What is this sound of the city in tumult?

  41. Verse 41.

    ወእንዘ ፡ ዓዲ ፡ ይትናገር ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ወሬሁ

    And while he was still speaking, behold —

  42. Verse 42.

    ናታን ፡ ወልዱ ፡ አብያታር ፡ ካህን ፡ ቦአ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ አዶንያስ ፡ ባእ ፡ እስመ ፡ ብእሴ ፡ ኃየል ፡ አንተ ፡ ወሥናየ ፡ ትዜኑ

    Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest came in. And Adonijah said: Come in, for you are a man of valor, and you bring good news.

  43. Verse 43.

    ወአውሥእ ፡ ናታን ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ለአዶንያስ ፡ እግዚእነ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ አንገሠ ፡ ለሰሎሞን ፡ ወፈነወ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ለሳደቅሁ ፡ ካህን ፡ ወናታሁ ፡ ነቢይ ፡ ወብንያስ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ዮዳሐ ፡ ኬሊቲ ፡ ወፈሊቲ ፡ ወአጽዓንዎ ፡ ሳዕለ ፡ በቅለ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ወቀብእዎ ፡ ሳዶቅ ፡ ካህን ፡ ወናታን ፡ ነቢይ ፡ ወእንገሥዎ ፡ በግዮን

    And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah: Indeed, our lord King David has made Solomon king, and the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and they have mounted him upon the king's mule, and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him, and they have made him king at Gihon.

  44. Verse 44.

    ወዓርጉ ፡ እምህየ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይትፌሥሑ ፡ ወደምፀት ፡ ሀገር ፡ ዝንቱ ፡ ውእቱ ፡ ቃል ፡ ዘሰማዕክሙ

    And they have gone up from there rejoicing, and the city has resounded — this is the sound that you heard.

  45. Verse 45.

    ወነበረ ፡ ሰሎሞን ፡ ውስተ ፡ ንበረ ፡ መንግሥት

    And Solomon has taken his seat upon the throne of the kingdom.

  46. Verse 46.

    ወቦኡ ፡ እግብርተ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ይባርክዎ ፡ ለእግዚእነ ፡ ዳዊት ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ የሠኒ ፡ እግዚአ ፡ ብሔር ፡ ስመ ፡ እምነ ፡ ስምከ ፡ ወያዕቢ ፡ መንበሮ ፡ እምነ ፡ መንበርከ ፡ ወሰገደ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ምስካቡ

    And the servants of the king came in to bless our lord King David, saying: May Yahweh make Solomon's name better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne. And the king bowed himself upon his bed.

  47. Verse 47.

    ወካዕበኒ ፡ ከመዝ ፡ ይቤ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ይትባረክ ፡ እግዚአ ፡ ብሔር ፡ አምላከ ፡ እስራኤል ፡ ዘወሀበ ፡ የም ፡ እምነ ፡ ዘርእየ ፡ ዘይነብር ፡ ዲበ ፡ መንበርየ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይሬእዐ ፡ አዕይንትየ

    And moreover the king said thus: Blessed be Yahweh the God of Israel, who has given this day one of my own seed to sit upon my throne, while my eyes see it.

  48. Verse 48.

    ወሬርሁ ፡ ወተንሥኡ ፡ ኩሎሙ ፡ ዕዉዓን ፡ ለአዶንያስ ፡ ወሐሩ ፡ ብእስ ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ፍኖቶ

    And [they were afraid], and all who were called by Adonijah rose up, and each man went his own way.

  49. Verse 49.

    ወአዶንያስኒ ፡ ፈርሀ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጹ ፡ ለሰሎሞን ፡ ወተንሥአ ፡ ወሐረ ፡ ወአኀዘ ፡ በቀርንተ ፡ ምሥዋዕ

    And Adonijah too was afraid before the face of Solomon, and he rose and went and laid hold of the horns of the altar.

  50. Verse 50.

    ወይድዕም ፡ ለሰሎሞን ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ ናሁ ፡ አዶንያስ ፡ ፈርሀ ፡ እምነ ፡ ገጹ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ሰሎሞን ፡ ወናሁ ፡ አኀዘ ፡ አቅርንተ ፡ ምሥዋዕ ፡ ወይቤ ፡ ይምሐል ፡ ሊተ ፡ የም ፡ ስሎሞን ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይቀትለኒ ፡ ለገብሩ ፡ በሰይፍ

    And they told Solomon, saying: Behold, Adonijah is afraid before the face of King Solomon, and behold, he has laid hold of the horns of the altar, saying: Let King Solomon swear to me this day that he will not put his servant to death by the sword.

  51. Verse 51.

    ወይቤ ፡ ስሎሞን ፡ ለእመ ፡ ኮነ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ኃያል ፡ እትወድቅ ፡ እምነ ፡ ሥዕርቱ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወእመሰ ፡ እኪት ፡ ተረክበ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ይሙት

    And Solomon said: If he proves to be a man of valor [worthy], not a hair of his shall fall to the ground; but if evil is found in him, he shall die.

  52. Verse 52.

    ወለእኪ ፡ ንጉሥ ፡ ስሎሞን ፡ ወአውረዶ ፡ እመልዕልተ ፡ ምሥዋዕ ፡ ወቦአ ፡ ወስገደ ፡ ለንጉሥ ፡ ስሎሞን ፡ ወይቤሎ ፡ ስሎሞን ፡ ሑት ፡ ቤተከ

    And King Solomon sent [men], and they brought him down from upon the altar; and he came in and bowed himself to King Solomon, and Solomon said to him: Go to your house.
